Broughton’s Parish Council consists of 10 representatives that are elected every four years.

The next full election will be in the Spring of 2027.

A parish council is a type of local authority found in England which is the lowest or first tier of local government. They are elected bodies and have variable tax raising powers.

Parish councils have a number of responsibilities for providing and maintaining a range of community services.

In Broughton, the Parish Council is responsible for the following:

Footpaths and Rights of Way

Fripps Acre (playground)

Centenary Garden

The Cemetery

Broughton Sportsfield

Broughton Allotments

The Well House

Roads and Highways

The council is also the first point of contact for aspiring local projects. It is their responsibility to help get schemes underway by providing initial funding and space for public use, for example for the local scout troop or a one-off jumble sale

The parish council must be notified of any planning application or highway development planned for the area.  This is usually communicated to the parish council by TVBC Planning, however, residents wishing to submit a planning application to TVBC may wish to present their plans to  the Parish Council beforehand to gauge opinion and to explain the development intended.
